To generate barcodes, a GS1 company prefix (7 to 11-digit number) is used, which is received when purchasing a GS1ID subscription via My GS1.

Before you begin, we recommend watching the video about GS1Trade Activate.

  1. Find your company prefix via the platform GS1Trade Activate under the menu item “Overview”
  2. In the “GTIN” column, you can see how many available numbers are left
  3. You can go to the overview of created barcode numbers by clicking “Show GTIN item numbers”
  4. Create the next available barcode number by clicking “Create GTIN”.

Barcodes for pallets (SSCC)

SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code) is an identification number for, for example, a pallet, package, or other type of shipment. Each individual shipping unit must have its unique SSCC number, even if it contains the same products.

To generate the 18-digit SSCC code, you use the company prefix (7 to 11-digit number) that you receive when purchasing a GS1ID subscription via My GS1.

  1. Find your company prefix via the platform GS1Trade Activate under the menu item “Overview”
  2. When generating a GS1-128 pallet label, you must enter an SSCC code. The first one must be calculated manually. Read more about the structure of a pallet label and how to build an SSCC based on the 7-11 digits here
  3. In the future, when you create more GS1-128 pallet labels, the system will remember the last SSCC code you used and inform you of the next one.

We recommend that you record each time you have used an SSCC and for what purpose.
