During week 24, Bornholm was the hub for lively debates and networking at this year's Folkemødet, where GS1 Denmark also participated in discussions on everything from digitalization and sustainability to supply chains and patient safety. We also had the pleasure of meeting many of our members face-to-face.

Ensuring members have the tools they need

GS1 Denmark attended Folkemødet to raise awareness of how our standards play a critical role in optimizing supply chains and securing product data for our more than 12,500 members. We also highlighted how technological innovation and digital transformation can be supported through globally agreed-upon standards.

"It is essential for us to ensure that our members have the tools they need to handle their logistics and data management requirements effectively," explained Morten Buch, COO / Head of Retail, who was one of the representatives from GS1 Denmark.

In addition to Morten Buch, GS1 Denmark's CEO, Per Ahlmann Andersen, and Head of Public & Healthcare, Anne Marie Lei, also participated.

Focus on sustainability, digitalization, and a more efficient public sector

One of the major themes at Folkemødet was climate and sustainability. Here, GS1’s services will play a crucial role as the digital product passport, which can track a product's environmental impact from start to finish, becomes a reality.

We also hosted a well-attended roundtable discussion on streamlining public procurement and sustainable reporting, which included representatives from the business community, public authorities, and decision-makers.

The focus was to discuss how the public sector can make public procurement greener, more efficient, and more cost-effective by utilizing digital product databases and barcodes already in use in the private sector.

We are taking the key points from the roundtable meeting back with us to incorporate them into a white paper on public procurement that is currently being drafted.

GS1 Denmark looks forward to continuing to contribute to future dialogues on industrial and technological progress at Folkemødet and other forums.
