Colloquially, many know GTIN as a barcode, but technically, GTIN is the number found beneath the barcode symbol itself, and can therefore also be used for other technologies such as 2D barcodes and RFID tags.

GS1 Denmark is the Danish division of the global standards organization GS1, which has offices in 116 countries.
Globally, over two million businesses and organizations use GS1 standards and services to increase their efficiency, safety and green development.
In Denmark, we operate primarily in retail, food services, healthcare, transportation and logistics with our standards for traceability and data exchange.
GS1 is a neutral, not-for-profit membership organization. We are owned by our members - the users of GS1 standards and services - who in turn are represented by a Board of Directors consisting of elected members representative of the industries we work in.
GS1 Denmark identifies, systematizes and exchanges data across products and industries to increase security and coherence in society and pave the way for better lives.

GS1 Denmark is responsible for the dissemination, development and administration of the GS1 standards in accordance with GS1's global rules. We actively participate in the international work in 'GS1 Global' and 'GS1 in Europe' to ensure the interests of GS1 Denmark's members.
GS1 Denmark is regulated by the Board of Directors, which meets several times a year and at our annual general meeting, which all members are invited to attend.
The board consists of seven representatives from trade and industry organizations in Denmark and two to four representatives elected by the companies that are members of GS1 Denmark. These are elected for one year at a time at GS1 Denmark's general meeting, which takes place in the spring.
GS1 collaborates with a number of international organizations, including ISO, UN, World Customs Organisation, World Health Organisation, ISQua and Danish Standards. These are among the most influential and recognized internationally within standardization, health, trade and community development.

That's why we run several coordinating working groups and Sector Boards in collaboration with a wide range of leading members, including Hørkram, Orkla, Arla, Dagrofa, Coop, Salling Group, P&G, Peter Larsen and many, many more.
