Vegan delights, crispy chicken, sweet temptations, and unique taste experiences were at the top of the menu when the B2B food trade fair, Bite Copenhagen, took place at the Bella Center last week. And, of course, GS1 Denmark was there.

A world of taste

With more than 150 exhibitors, inspiring speakers, and food pioneers from home and abroad, the stage was set for a true food mecca of innovation and gastronomy—infused with immense dedication, professional pride, and a firm belief in success. Bite Copenhagen is for all professionals interested in the latest developments in the food industry, though curious foodies also stopped by. Meeting both prospective and current members is essential for an organization like GS1 Denmark, making a booth at the fair’s second year an obvious opportunity to connect and talk with them.

The voices of our members

Signe Poulsen, Head of Communications at GS1 Denmark: "As an organization with 11,500 members, GS1 is fully aware that our members are our greatest asset and most important source of development. That is why we at GS1 Denmark have a natural and strong focus on building and maintaining our relationships, so we can continue to provide competent and relevant service in the future. At the Bella Center, there was naturally ample opportunity to exchange experiences in the world of barcodes and gather constructive feedback on members' experiences with various GS1 services. We covered it all—from initial inquiries about the best time to join GS1 Denmark to technical challenges when using GS1Trade Sync. These experiences, conversations, and insights are ones we gratefully take back and actively use in our ongoing optimization of product development and service—both in the short and long term," concludes Signe Poulsen.

Focus on data sharing and food waste

GS1 Denmark was also one of 16 exhibitors invited by the Ministry of Environment and Food to host two talks for participants of the 'World Food Summit – Better Food for More People' during their visit to Bite Copenhagen on Thursday afternoon. In her presentation, Jane Wulff, Head of Standards at GS1 Denmark, focused on how GS1 standards can help optimize the supply chain and thereby reduce food waste. Under the theme 'Better information,' Morten Buch, Head of Services at GS1 Denmark, subsequently spoke about the potential for optimal data sharing in GS1Trade Sync, as well as the security of physically validating products against the digital dataset via GS1Trade Exact. Two timely and relevant talks that tap directly into the trends and headlines shaping the future of the food industry.
