The Ministry of the Environment sent the second part of the executive order on producer responsibility for packaging for consultation on September 20, 2024.

You can now find the draft of the design requirements in both the executive order and in the guidance, which the Environmental Protection Agency has published in connection with the consultation.
The design requirements for eco-modulation are particularly interesting because they influence how much your company will have to pay for the waste management of your packaging.

New material categories have been added to the reporting, namely porcelain, ceramics, textiles, and cork.
If your company chooses to use GS1Trade Packaging to collect and declare your packaging data, it is fortunately easy to calculate quantities, as the GDSN standard already accounts for these packaging materials, which are part of the system's code lists.
Initially, there is no fee for the waste management of these four packaging materials.
The new deadline means that you must have full control over your 2024 packaging data by June 1, 2025. If you have not yet calculated or structured your packaging data for all the products for which you are the producer, we can help you get off to a good start.

Membership in a collective scheme will be a legal requirement for companies covered by the extended producer responsibility for packaging - however, it is optional if the company exclusively places reusable packaging on the market.
If your company is already registered with the Danish Producer Responsibility (DPA) but is not signed up for a collective scheme, you must do so no later than January 14, 2025.
