GS1 Denmark is pleased to announce the launch of a new network group dedicated to exploring and implementing a data model for medical devices based on the European standard, ECHO. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Danish Regions and the Medicoindustrien, aims to optimize and standardize master data for medical devices in Denmark.

Purpose and expectations

The goal of the network group is to evaluate and realize the potential of using the ECHO data model. By integrating this model into the Danish healthcare system, we hope to achieve more streamlined, efficient, and error-free data exchange. The collaboration is expected to reduce manual processes and standardize data management across the sector, which will lead to better patient care and more efficient healthcare services.

Participants and structure

The network group will consist of IT specialists, master data specialists, product category managers, and procurement officers from both regional purchasing departments and the Medicoindustrien. The meetings will be facilitated by GS1 Denmark and will include a series of thematic meetings, where each meeting will focus on specific aspects of the data model. The planned thematic meetings for 2025 include topics such as procurement, logistics, and clinical processes.

Registration and further information

Those interested can sign up for the interest list by sending their name, email, and organization to Camilla Jensen at caa@gs1.dk. This will ensure ongoing information about the project's progress and invitations to upcoming thematic meetings.

We look forward to collaborating with all stakeholders on a data model for medical devices for the Danish healthcare sector.
