At GS1 Denmark, we work every day to ensure that data flows freely and accurately throughout the entire value chain. One of the people making that happen is Christina Wilms Nielsen, our Data Model Specialist.

Christina develops and maintains the data models that make it easy for manufacturers and retailers to share the necessary information about their products – quickly, securely, and consistently.

Why data models matter to you

A data model is a common set of ground rules for how product data should be structured and shared. When everyone follows the same rules, it means:

  • Less complexity in data management
  • Greater trust between business partners
  • Fewer errors and more efficient data sharing

In short – better data quality that saves time and creates value for manufacturers, wholesalers, retail chains, and consumers alike.

And with her experience from Salling Group, Christina knows how important data quality is for successful collaboration and efficient processes – and that high-quality data doesn't happen by itself.

From market needs to practical solutions

Christina’s work is about translating industry needs and regulatory requirements into concrete, user-friendly solutions.

Right now, GS1 Denmark is involved in, among other things, the collaboration on a common European data model for the healthcare sector. At the same time, we are working on data requirements for products such as eggs, coffee, and dietary supplements in our data pool, GS1Trade Sync.

Regardless of industry, the goal is the same:

Making it easier to share the right data correctly – for the benefit of the entire value chain.
