Get started with sharing product data with the Danish regions through GDSN

Enter your product data once - and automatically share it with all relevant recipients.

Do you need to share product data with the Danish regional healthcare authorities? With GDSN (Global Data Synchronisation Network), you can create, validate, and share your product data from a single source, ensuring it reaches the right recipients in the correct format.

Product data is often spread across multiple systems and departments - for example, in your ERP system, spreadsheets, documents, or maintained by different teams. Start by identifying where your data is stored and which data the Danish regional healthcare authorities require.

Choose a data pool

To be able to use GDSN you have to be assigned a data pool. You are able to choose GS1Trade Sync or another GDSN certified data pool.

The first product is often the most challenging. That's why we offer one-to-one guidance, where we'll help you create your first product in GS1Trade Sync and complete the data fields required by the Danish regional healthcare authorities.

Create and share your products

1. Create the products manually in GS1Trade Sync

2. Upload via Excel

3. Or integrate via API, FTPS or AS2 if you have a lot of products

What does this mean for you?

What is involved?

The biggest challenge is often collecting data from different systems and ensuring that it is complete and accurate. Typically, you'll need to gather information such as:

  • Product name and GTIN
  • Dimensions and packaging hierarchy
  • Images and the Declaration of Conformity
  • Classifications (e.g. UNSPSC and GMDN)

Who should be involved?

In most organisations, several functions need to be involved, including Regulatory Affairs, Quality, IT, Logistics, and Sales, as product data is typically maintained across different systems and departments.

Why companies choose GDSN

GDSN enables you to share product data with regional healthcare authorities and other customers in a structured and efficient way.

Today, product data is often managed in multiple formats - such as spreadsheets, PDFs, and emails - which leads to unnecessary manual work and an increased risk of errors.

With GDSN, you can:

  • Meet the data requirements of regional healthcare authorities and hospitals
  • Maintain your product data in one place instead of multiple spreadsheets
  • Improve data quality and reduce errors
  • Automatically share updates with all relevant recipients

Instead of managing multiple datasets in different formats, GDSN provides a single, trusted source for your product data.

When you use GS1Trade Sync, data sharing happens in four steps:

1

You create or send your product data one place

Data is validated automatically

2

Data is shared with your chosen recipients

3

Updates are send automatically in real time
