Calculate your check digit

The last digit of all GS1 numbers is a check digit.

The check digit is calculated from the preceding digits. It is used as a check for both the GS1 number and the barcode.

Therefore, it is important that the check digit is correct - otherwise the barcode cannot be read.

The check digits shall be calculated according to The modulus-10 algorithm

  • Calculate your check digit by entering your number into the calculator.
  • You can enter 7, 11, 12, 13 and 17 digits in the calculator, corresponding to UPC, GTIN-8, GTIN-13, GTIN-14 and SSCC.
