GTIN
Colloquially, many know GTIN as a barcode, but technically, GTIN is the number found beneath the barcode symbol itself, and can therefore also be used for other technologies such as 2D barcodes and RFID tags.

A GTIN-8 consists of 8 digits and can be represented in an EAN-8 barcode, which takes up less space than the EAN-13 barcode used for GTIN-13.
You may use an EAN-8 barcode on small products where there is not enough space for an EAN-13 barcode. This applies if an EAN-13 barcode at its standard size would occupy more than 20% of the product’s available surface area for information - which should not be confused with the product’s current label size.
En identifikationsnøgle starter altid med et virksomhedspræfiks. Et virksomhedspræfiks er et GS1 ID, som du køber i Mit GS1.

See below what to do once you have received your company prefix (between 7 and 11 digits) from GS1 Denmark and need to convert it into barcodes.
First, you must create the GTIN product numbers that the barcode will contain:
With 7 digits, you can form 100,000 pieces. GTIN Product Numbers
With 8 digits, you can form 10,000 pieces. GTIN Product Numbers
With 9 digits, you can form 1,000 pieces. GTIN Product Numbers
With 10 digits, you can form 100 pieces. GTIN Product Numbers
With 11 digits, you can form 10 pieces. GTIN Product Numbers

The GS1 prefix and the company reference number are assigned by GS1.
The product reference number is assigned by you.
The check digit is calculated using the Modulo 10 algorithm and is used to validate both the GTIN-8 number and the barcode symbol.
