GS1 Pilot Scheme

GS1 Denmark is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to administer and disseminate a range of products and services (hereinafter "the standards") that are widely used in Denmark and the rest of the world, such as barcodes and GLN numbers, product data exchange systems or EDI.

GS1 Denmark's pilot projects are aimed at companies and organizations that are interested in testing the use of the standards in new industries and/or business areas. It is expected that the organization or company wishing to enter into an agreement on a pilot scheme works in an industry or business area where the standards are not (or to a small extent) used so far, or that the company or organization is about to initiate a project that in itself would correspond to such a new industry.

GS1 Denmark offers a limited membership that supports the company or organization in proving that GS1 standards can work for them.

A limited number of pilot schemes are offered and these have a duration of one year. The price varies according to the need for GS1 Denmark resources during the pilot - however, the minimum price is DKK 5,000.

How does that work?

Below is a link to the pilot scheme application form. Fill it out and send it to info@gs1.dk. GS1 Denmark will then review the application based on various criteria, including whether there are other existing members who have implemented standards for the industry or business area, and assess whether it can be granted. The review can take up to 10 working days. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive a contract to be signed and returned, after which the pilot scheme can be launched. You can contact us if you need help completing the application.

Who can apply?
The GS1Denmark pilot scheme is for all companies or organizations that want to test the GS1 standards in an industry or business area where there are currently no (or little) use of standards.

Which GS1 standards can be applied for?

The pilot scheme can be applied for all products and services under GS1 Denmark. Including:
- GTIN and GLN, and underlying standards of these
- GDSN
- EDI
... more can be added

An example of what the pilot scheme can be used for:

The company "Bilen kører igen A/S" needs to structure their master data so they can get a better overview of what products they have and where they come from. They also want to be able to provide their customers with information about which products they use when replacing parts on the cars they have in for repair. For this task, "Bilen kører igen A/S" will try the global master data system GDSN. GDSN is a GS1 standard, and GS1 Denmark offers a service for this, namely GS1Trade Sync.

At GS1 Denmark we have not been active in this industry before, and therefore GS1 Denmark would like to offer a pilot scheme.
