Colloquially, many know GTIN as a barcode, but technically, GTIN is the number found beneath the barcode symbol itself, and can therefore also be used for other technologies such as 2D barcodes and RFID tags.
GS1-128 pallet labels are used by 94% of the Danish grocery trade.
The barcodes on pallet labels are essential, but getting started can be challenging. The consequences can be significant if the correct information is not included on a pallet label or if it cannot be scanned. We help guide you through the process so your customer can easily receive your shipment.
Here you can find a quick guide to GS1 pallet labels in Danish and English.

The GS1-128 barcode is typically used for labeling cases and pallets in logistics operations, such as warehouse or transport handling. The GS1-128 barcode cannot be scanned at retail checkout counters.
Labeling with the GS1-128 barcode, and the exchange of information it enables, forms the basis for traceability of products and shipments.
While the EAN-13 barcode only contains a GTIN, the GS1-128 barcode can contain a wide range of information, such as production or expiration dates, weight, and batch numbers—typically information that varies each time the product is traded.
The information is encoded in the GS1-128 barcode using Application Identifiers (AIs) and their associated data fields. A single GS1-128 barcode can contain up to 48 alphanumeric characters.
GS1 Denmark recommends contacting your customer to agree on which information it is beneficial to encode in the GS1-128 barcode.

The barcode cannot be scanned omnidirectionally, meaning that the unit with the barcode must be passed in front of the scanner at a specific angle.
