How do you use GS1 in your daily operations?

– We use GS1 to retrieve master data when we need to set up products in a system. You could say that we are primarily data consumers. However, when it comes to our own produced meat and fish products, we are data providers because we are the ones entering the information into the GS1 system.

– GS1 supports our webshop, which accounts for 90 percent of our revenue. In that context, GS1 is absolutely indispensable because when you sell food the way we do, the customer must have access to information about the products. The information must be very specific, right down to the ingredient level. It is hard to imagine how we could provide that service without the helping hand we get from GS1 every day. That is actually the case for most wholesalers and retail chains in Denmark. GS1 is our common point of reference.

How does the collaboration with GS1 contribute to and develop within your company?

– We are in a completely different reality today. Nowadays, our suppliers in Denmark can extract master data. If you buy a bread roll from Schulstad, you need to be able to verify that it is actually what you bought.

– Over the last five years, there have been far more requirements for data-based reports where everything imaginable must be covered at all times. When we need to document that the products in an organic canteen are actually organic, it is a huge help that we can see in the system how organic the customer actually is, because we have access to their specific details. Everything you need to know today if you want to be a modern and efficient company can be obtained from GS1’s registrations.

– It takes a long time to enter data into the system, but it still saves us time in the long run because we don't have to do it multiple times.

– GS1 is absolutely superb when it comes to service. GS1 exists for our sake and can help as soon as we have a question.
